Frequently Asked Questions
Getting started is easy! Simply fill out the scheduling form through the link below and let us know the reason for your visit, along with your insurance information or preferred method of payment.
If you’re using insurance, we’ll provide an estimated copay/amount due based on the information available to us. Your estimated copay or self-pay fee is charged before your appointment.
Please keep in mind that insurance estimates are not a guarantee of coverage or payment. If your insurance later determines that you owe an additional amount, you are responsible for the remaining balance.
Once your information has been reviewed, we’ll help you with the next steps for scheduling your appointment.
Think of your first appointment as a chance for us to get to know each other. We’ll talk about what brings you in, what you’ve been experiencing, your mental health history, and what you’re hoping to get out of treatment.
Most importantly, there’s no need to have the “perfect” answers. I strive to create a warm, comfortable, and nonjudgmental environment where you can be yourself and speak openly. My goal is for you to leave feeling heard, understood, and hopefully a little more at ease than when you arrived.
Larkhaven Psychiatry primarily offers care through telehealth. However, limited in-person appointments are also available for those who prefer meeting face-to-face.
That’s completely okay — and actually pretty common. You don’t need to know exactly what to say or where to start. We’ll take it one step at a time, and I’ll help guide the conversation.
Not at all. You don’t need to arrive with a diagnosis or have everything figured out. Part of our work together is understanding what you’re experiencing and figuring out what may be contributing to it.
Not at all. Medication is one tool we may use, but good psychiatric care starts with understanding you — your symptoms, history, goals, preferences, and what is happening in your life. Treatment recommendations are individualized rather than one-size-fits-all.
Sometimes. Stimulant medications may be appropriate for some patients, but treatment is always individualized and stimulant medication is not guaranteed.
If you already have an ADHD diagnosis, please bring records from the psychologist, psychiatrist, psychiatric NP, or PA who diagnosed you. I can perform some ADHD evaluations myself; however, if your history or presentation is more complex, I may recommend additional testing or referral to a specialist for a more in-depth evaluation.
Benzodiazepines may be considered in select circumstances, but they are not routinely prescribed. When appropriate, they are generally intended for short-term use, with the goal of reducing or discontinuing them when clinically appropriate.
Bring your current medication information and, when applicable, records from your previous provider. We’ll review your treatment history and discuss whether continuing, changing, or adjusting your current medications makes sense.
Larkhaven Psychiatry is an outpatient practice and is not equipped to provide emergency or crisis care.
If you are experiencing an emergency, feel that you may harm yourself or someone else, or need immediate psychiatric assistance, please seek emergency care or contact an appropriate crisis service.
You can reach out to the practice for appropriate, non-emergency questions between appointments. Some concerns are better addressed during a scheduled visit so they can receive the time and attention they deserve.
For emergencies or urgent safety concerns, please seek immediate emergency or crisis care rather than relying on messaging.
Life happens! If you need to cancel or reschedule, please provide at least 24 hours' notice.
Cancellations or rescheduling requests made 24 hours or more before your appointment are free of charge. Cancellations, rescheduling requests, or no-shows made less than 24 hours before your appointment are subject to a $75 fee.
Yes, when clinically appropriate. Because this type of documentation requires an established understanding of your condition and functioning, patients must generally be established with Larkhaven Psychiatry for at least four months before FMLA or disability paperwork can be considered.
Completion of paperwork is not guaranteed and is based on clinical judgment and the information available in your medical record. Additional fees apply for these services.
ESA documentation is considered on an individual basis and is not automatically provided upon request.
Patients must generally be established with Larkhaven Psychiatry for at least four months before an ESA request can be considered. Whether documentation is appropriate will depend on your clinical history and professional assessment. Additional fees apply for ESA documentation.
That’s okay! You don’t need to prepare a speech. We’ll start wherever feels most helpful and work from there.
That’s exactly the kind of conversation we can have during an appointment. You don’t have to decide before you come in. We can discuss your concerns, options, and what you’re comfortable with before making a treatment plan.
No. Mental health concerns can be difficult to talk about, and you deserve a space where you can be honest without feeling judged. My goal is to listen, understand, and work with you toward a treatment plan that feels appropriate for your needs.
I believe psychiatric care should feel human. You’re not just a diagnosis or a list of symptoms. I want to understand the person behind what brings you through the door and create a treatment plan that fits your life, your goals, and your needs.
